Gross Area
The project transforms an 1885 historic townhouse from a heavily renovation-dependent condition into a refined contemporary residence while preserving the architectural identity of the original building. With approximately 256 m² of living area on a 540 m² plot, the renovation addresses the building as a complete system: façade restoration, interior reorganization, technical modernization and rehabilitation of the existing architectural fabric.
The design strategy is based on a careful balance between preservation and contemporary intervention. Original proportions, window openings, decorative plasterwork, staircase elements and historic façade details are retained or reconstructed, while new kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, finishes and building services introduce modern comfort. Natural materials, warm timber, restrained stone finishes and a neutral interior palette create a consistent language throughout the house without competing with its historic character.

Materiality, Lighting & Brand Identity
The renovation reimagines the existing commercial interior as a contemporary donut shop while preserving its original architectural footprint. With a 3.8-metre interior height, the design creates two interconnected spaces: an inviting retail and service area and a comfortable seating lounge. Carefully arranged architectural elements establish openness, visual continuity and a welcoming atmosphere.
The interior is organized around a central glazed donut display, creating a clear focal point and an intuitive customer journey. Integrated coffee stations, preparation counters and storage solutions support efficient daily operations. The connection between retail and seating areas balances practical circulation, customer comfort and operational efficiency, transforming a functional commercial space into an engaging hospitality experience.
A carefully curated palette of natural oak, terrazzo flooring, blush pink finishes and warm brass accents establishes a distinctive architectural identity. Curved wall niches, bespoke furniture, illuminated displays and layered decorative lighting introduce softness and visual rhythm. Together, these elements create a contemporary, recognizable environment where architecture, product presentation and customer experience become one cohesive design.
